The Diocese of Pacong
The Diocese of Pacong is one of the dioceses registered under the Episcopal Church of South Sudan and Sudan (ECSSS) and operating under the constitution of ECSSS in South Sudan. The diocese was established as an area diocese in 2004 and was officially registered in 2009 to work with local parishes in South Sudan to provide a fresh energy and focus to its work across the Diocese in post conflict epoch. The diocese provides a means to give expression to the vision of the Anglican Communion Worldwide and is therefore a mechanism for "changing lives and transforming local communities in South Sudan"The diocese consists of 120 parishes, each headed by a priest. The current Bishop is the Rt. Rev. Joseph Maker Atot. The main programmes include; evangelism, church planting, training of pastors, food security, water and sanitation, healthcare, HIV/AIDs, education, women and youth empowerment, micro enterprise, environment, vocational training, energy, capacity building and Conflict mitigation.
The diocese is a member of the Anglican Communion Worldwide and as such has been involved in the Anglican movementunder the Episcopal Church of South Sudan and Sudan. It provides support for the diocesan programs and ministries, while the Parish Offertory Program helps parishes address their pastoral needs. The Development Office assists in general development activities within the diocese through fundraising and community based contributions.The Diocese is committed to promote, teach and maintain the Scriptural truths on which the Anglican Church was founded.By working to achieve her goals, the diocese continue with Christ’s ministry “to bring good news to the poor…, to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free” (Luke 4:18). Each year, the Diocese of Pacong seeks for grantsto implement her development projects. Our projects promote justice and peace by addressing the root causes of hunger and poverty in local situations. For the physical health needs of the diocese, we established PacongClinic in 2003with supportfrom Diocese of Salisburyto providemedicine/drugsto the needy and vulnerable members of our society who have reported various cases of preventable diseases.
Goal: Established in South Sudan in 2004, the diocese exists to support through evangelism, church planting, education, healthcare, food security, HIV/AIDsawareness, water and sanitation, environment and welfare projects those most disadvantaged South Sudanese who still suffer from the inequalities and injustices caused by the more than 21 years of civil conflict and its economic and social legacy.

Mission: The Diocese of Pacong exists to declare with integrity the fulfilling of God’s mission in this world by proclaiming the Good News of the Kingdom of God; baptizing, teaching, and nurturing new believers; responding to human needs with loving service; and seeking to transform unjust structures of society.
